Welcome to Alsup Elementary!

          Welcome back for what we can all anticipate will be another fabulous school year.  This year we have five full day kindergarten classes, we continue to be an IB World school and have an evaluation visit coming up in January, and we will incorporate more Wellness initiatives into our building, including fresh fruits and veggies for all students twice per week, and 2-3 youth-run farmer's markets where you can purchase fresh produce right here at Alsup.

          This year our academic focus will continue to be on reading, writing, and math with an emphasis on English Language Development when needed.  All ACSD14 students will receive a minimum of 60 minutes of direct math instruction per day.  In addition, all students will participate in 45 minutes of targeted academic language instruction per day.

         Through our partnership with the University of Colorado at Denver we currently have eleven Teacher candidates working with our teachers and providing additional academic support for our students.  We're thrilled to welcome our new UCD site professor, Ms. Pam McEwan.
          I am excited to have the opportunity to be the principal here at Alsup IB World School and I cannot tell you enough how proud I am to be part of this organization.  The teaching staff, support staff, family members and of course, the students make this the greatest, most satisfying place to work.
